Milky Way V3

Last weekend (during this year’s perseid meteor shower) I had the opportunity to go on a hiking trip, spending the night at ~1650m altitude with very little light pollution and a clear view on the stars.

Since my last few attempts on photographing the night sky and milky way, I tried to improve and learn to implement a few useful techniques for astrophotography, found in several tutorials and discussion forums.

This image is a composition of 10x 13sec exposures at 2000 ISO, taken with my E-M5II and 12mm lens. Without using any tracking techniques,  I found that 12 to 13 seconds exposure are the limit to still get point-shaped stars without trailing for this specific lens. The images were afterwards stacked with the software DeepSkyStacker in order to reduce noise. This has worked surprisingly well, also resulting in a visibly blurred foreground after stacking due to earth’s rotation.
